Friends are Fun

With most of our family in Utah, we really have come to rely on the good friends that we have made out here.. We feel very blessed to be surrounded by such great people!

We enjoyed the warmer weather by heading to the forest preserves with Matt, Brittany, and their son Josh!

Our good friend Stein turned 26! His parents flew out from Utah to visit and took us to dinner to celebrate! Good news ladies! He's single, LDS, and charming! haha

Bob's Baptism

So my ward is a fun ward to be involved in. I love the people that I meet and I absolutely love to serve them. My callings in the ward are Acitivty Day Girls leader (I absolutely love my 15 girls!) and a ward missionary. I was a ward missionary in Utah, but to be honest-we didn't do much. Out here when I was first called I was kind of bummed because of my previous experience with the calling.

This time it has been much different. We are very involved! As part of our calling, each week we are to devote time for at least 7 hours of study or missionary related activity. We have meetings each Saturday morning with the missionaries assigned to our ward. Through this calling I have come to know many people I wouldn't normally have the chance to get to know-including the less actives in the ward and investigators, I absolutely love it!

Anyway, through this calling I've come to know this great man pictured below, Bob Ratfield! He has one of the most amazing, hard-working, and dedicated spirits I have ever met! He was baptized May 2nd into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I had the honor of speaking at his baptism in which I spoke to him about the Iron Rod, and gave him a small key chain as remembrance to "Hold to the Rod." He told me many times, "This is a miracle! It's a miracle that I can be baptized!" This man's faith has inspired me and given me new dedication to be more like him. What a special special opportunity this was for me and such a testimony builder!

Family Photo Time

 photo DSC_00081_zps13a10726.jpg
Family photo time! And yes we included our cat in our family picture. I like to tease Brian these days because one of our "arguments" when we were dating was whether we wanted pets or not. I grew up with animals and did quite a bit of research in my undergrad on the importance of pets in families. It was never a question for me whether I would have a pets, I just knew I would.
Brian wasn't one for the pets much at all. We seriously argued about the pros and cons and why he didn't like them in the house. I remember being so upset that our future kids wouldn't get to experience the responsibility and love of taking care of animals.
Lo and Behold we get married.... and if you remember our whole multiplying bunny fiasco then you know that Brian's plan of NOT having animals didn't last!
Now, a year later from our crazy rabbit situation (but an awesome adventure that Brian and I both loved). We have a cat. Minnie. And honestly.. she's the best cat ever. Brian is always playing with her and wanting to hold her. He tells me all the time how glad he is to have Minnie and that she's so pretty and fun.. I rest my case! Animals are the best! HENCE-we took our family photo with our cat.

And news with our life.. Brian's school ends mid-May so he is busy busy studying hard for all his classes. He will be tutoring Anatomy this summer as well as researching with a a Doctor about... the pancreas or something? I know, I know.. I'm a terrible wife that I can't remember what he's researching.. I just know he'll be working.
Now with my job.. It gets better and better every day (especially since the weather is warming up and we can go outside!) Lily is so much fun and makes the best sounds that leaves me laughing. She loves playing with her tongue these days and makes the best expressions!

Bath time is one of my favorite things with her. She is too fun and I love her reaction to the water.

Hoppy Day

Happy Easter! Easter is a time where we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of the Atonement that was brought about from the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Christ we know that death is not the end. We too will be resurrected someday and have a perfect body. This brings me both hope and faith in this life.

"This is Easter morning. This is the Lord’s day, when we celebrate the greatest victory of all time, the victory over death.... There is nothing more universal than death, and nothing brighter with hope and faith than the assurance of immortality. The abject sorrow that comes with death, the bereavement that follows the passing of a loved one are mitigated only by the certainty of the Resurrection of the Son of God that first Easter morning. What meaning would life have without the reality of immortality? Otherwise life would become only a dismal journey of 'getting and spending,' only to end in utter and hopeless oblivion"

Well the Easter bunny decided to hop on by to see my sweet Lily! Lily's sweet Grandmother, Stella and I made these by sifting flour through a stencil. Stella was such a doll and insisted on jumping across the driveway to see where we would put the next set of footprints.
