Ward Christmas Party: Wise Men Still Seek Him

About 4 weeks ago I was asked along with my two counselors to be in charge of our ward Christmas party. With not much time to plan, weekly Young Women activities and lessons to plan, as well as regular work for the 3 of us.. we quickly set to work in planning.

There is just something about lights, candles, and the colors of gold and silver. It felt like we were really under the bright star that lead the Wise men to Jesus.

The theme we chose was "Wise Men Still Seek Him" and we had the decorations be all about lights, gold, and stars. It turned out so beautiful that all the other wards asked if we would leave it up for their ward parties.

We had a choir from a local high school sing for 20 minutes, then the primary did a still nativity and then Santa came! It was a very magical night!

Here is a short video of the message of wise men seeking Christ today and not just in biblical times. It's very touching!

    1. Hi! Hobby Lobby and Party City (or Zurchers if you are in the West) had the gold cups and plates-but I know you can buy them on Amazon too. All of our candles had to be electric/battery run because we couldn't have real ones in the church. The majority of the candles we borrowed from people in the ward-which is why there are many different types all over the tables but it certainly made it beautiful to have so many different-but we did buy some on Amazon. Type in flameless candles on amazon and you can find a set of ten or twelve for around $30-40. I also had bought a set of flameless tea lights from Walmart to have in between the tall ones. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi! Etsy has the decals and there are many options to choose from! I can't recall the size of this one, but it was one on the largest sizes we could get. I can't find the place we purchased from, but a place called WallWorthy has a similar design on Etsy!

  4. Hello! We are following this pattern for our ward Christmas party. I am struggling with what to do while the live nativity is up on the stage....did the school choir sing while they were up there?

    1. Hi! So the nativity was really simple-While the kids were all frozen in their nativity (it was a still nativity) one primary girl dressed as the angel just read just a couple short scriptures.. and then we all sang silent night. It was short and sweet. Hope this helps!
